"Fantastic stay. Stayed in room 1 which was absolutely stunning with 4 poster bed, giant bathroom and a staircase to a loft sitting room. It’s floors were uneven and feels like you are staying in a piece of history with all the old oak panelling . Beautifully decorated and top quality toiletries and tea/coffee. Breakfast was excellent in the morning. We had an evening meal there too and that was good quality (although crumble much better than the bake well tart. Next to where you park your car is...

"Had promise driving up to the site. Had booked dinner to find restaurant closed and only buffet served. Fine as it was a hot day. Oh dear, oh dear. Couple of greasy pork chops and unidentified fish in warmers. No offer of a drink. Went to the bar to fill up on crisps. Perhaps breakfast would be better? Even worse. The few choices were let down by no crockery, having been used the night before and no washing up done. Three plates for at least 10 people waiting, no cups to use the machine, no glasses to get some orange juice out of the other machine, no bread. Management/Supervisors conspicuously absent. Poor younger members of staff left to deal with the resultant moaning. Potentially good hotel let down by those running it."

"Really poor stay. Countless issues that shouldn’t happening in a 4 star hotel. - breakfast poor, bad hygiene, had to ask for tables to be cleaned (as did many other guests) Ham & cheese served with same spoon (food standards issues) - room had to repeatedly ask to be cleaned, 2nd time just dropped towels didn’t service anything or take old towels. - spa - changing rooms gross, flies in all showers, steam room not working. These are just the highlights. Wouldn’t recommend, def not worth the money. Will not go again."

"Good location for pre-cruise stay. Excellent views over golf course or cricket ground. Expensive bar prices as you would expect. Food in Beefy's ok. Room large and spotless. What really let it down was the chaos at breakfast. Large queues waiting for tables whilst there were many tables in the restaurant which needed clearing etc. Not as efficient as it could have been."

"Pleasant hotel but rather isolated from shops and amenities despite not being far from the city centre. No meal provided in the evening due to restaurant being closed on Sundays and no bar either. Which meant a trek up the road to a pub to get anything to eat and drink. I would not book again. Staff were all pleasant and helpful so no complaints there."

"We had a lovely stay apart from the breakfast which was such an unpleasant experience! There wasn't any bread for toast, no croissants, mushrooms, tomatoes or eggs, all of which we asked for. Only 1 member of staff available, who was trying to work reception as well as attempting to replenish food, drinks and clear tables in restaurant. After a 5 minute wait the bread then came along as did the fried eggs but they were rubbery & inedible! The mushrooms arrived after we had eaten bacon & beans on toast! When the supposedly grilled tomatoes arrived, they were just sliced cold salad tomatoes, not grilled! It wasn't even that busy! The female cook was slamming dishes on the hot plate and seemed extremely stressed! It felt as though it was all too much trouble! If a cooked breakfast is available at the hotel I'm staying at then, I expect to be able to choose a cooked breakfast! I'm sure it would've only needed another member of staff to help out and things would've been much better as regards to replenishing food, pastries etc. Such a shame and extremely disappointing."
