"I would highly recommend staying at this hotel for the close proximity to everything from the beach to the main bars and restaurants. It also was so fun and felt like a perfect tropical resort. Rooms were absolutely perfect. Loved being able to hang out outside and enjoy the weather and property."

"So I really love this property as it is very close to both the beach and Carlsbad Village. Scandia Motel is cute but could use some upgrades and a thorough cleaning. I have stayed here twice (due to location and price) however it needs to be painted and cleaned. The floors are filthy (do not go barefoot) and the shower was not clean at all and had long hairs all over the place. That said, the.price is right, the location is excellent, and the family who runs it is very nice and welcoming. I will stay here every time I come.to Carlsbad."

"Property was in a good location across the street from the beach and close to the village. Both walkable. A little older property but in pretty good condition."

"Our room had a balcony with a beautiful beach view. Breakfast was included and offered mostly the basics, but everything was fresh, so really no complaints there. The view while eating breakfast made it even better. The only downside was the parking, but that’s pretty typical for California, especially near the beach. Parking on the property is $44 per night, though street parking is free. Plus, if you’re heading to the beach, you get VIP parking right at the front of the street. We really loved our stay and will definitely be coming back."
