Rooms were very nicely appointed and unique. The little things were also appreciated, such as cream and milk in the fridge, a good supply of coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and a wealth of information in the little book. Of course, the bed was very comfortable. Great stay.

The bed was comfortable and the room had all we could need. But the windows couldn't open, which made the room very stuffy. Plus the air-conditioner was not put through a window, so when we use it, the room become much hotter until we realized the problem and shut it. But the room was even stuffier because the windows couldn't open.

Comfortable and convenient

This place comes recommended, especially for an extended stay since it has a kitchen. The garden patio was lovely in spite of some carpentry in progress. I would suggest a few more comfortable deck chairs. The carpet in the bedroom needs replacement, but otherwise, the kitchen and washroom were clean, which is more important. The air con was noisy but when I turned off the bedroom unit, the sitting room unit kept the whole place comfortable during warm June days. Communication for self check-in was clear, and there is somewhere to store luggage at the end of a visit (I took the train to Brockville). This place is centrally located in a town with good clothing shops, an interesting museum and lovely views of the St Lawrence. It is walkable to restaurants and the train station.

Tasteful

We have stayed here several times. The rooms are all themed / decorated differently. Henry (the owner) has tailored each room in a tasteful manner that reflects the building’s era. If you have good hearing, I would not recommend booking rooms on the lower levels, the floors are wood and if a child or dog is playing on the floor above, well you are going to hear it.

Location was excellent. Milk in the fridge was curdled. No one to greet or communicate with guests Called the owner (repeatedly) who passively denied assistance. A dog left alone in a room by entry door barking for hours. No directions on use of electronics.

Yes, I realize that it is a historical building. And, the original foundation was central to the theme but when we walked into the Canadiana Suite and saw that carpet….we were not thrilled. It is beyond needing to be replaced. Two simple changes and future customers will feel at ease. Remove the rugs and use a simple cover on the couch.
