The room was clean but the common areas were not. There was a bed frame in the middle of a hallway, as well as a broken table. The elevator was not working the day we arrived and we were on the 6th floor. The pictures in Expedia are misleading. The breakfast was good.

Really nice staff and very cute hotel. Great location. Downsides: no AC so had to open window (only fire escape one opened) and the elevator would sometimes stop working since it’s vintage. On balance would still recommend!

Staff for the most part was helpful, room was clean but also had a slight strange odor but clean. Was on the first floor down the hall from lobby/reception area where sound from the front traveled down, so at times a bit noisy.

This place is a gem in a good area with restaurants and transportation to fisherman wharf, I would recommend to park in the Sutter Stockton it’s spacious and safe, would stay here again!!!

Old style hotel in a great location. Helpful staff. There is a garage across the street. Although not cheap, it is safe and the people are courteous. The main issue was that the morning staff was overwhelmed by the breakfast crush.

Everything was great! Even the breakfast! It was served in the dungeon (basement)! Loved it! Beautiful decorated! Very safe place to walk! Closed to everything I needed! The only downside that I was it doesn’t have air condition. Good for me the weather was perfect the day we went. The other downside is the smell of something old, it could be the carpet, but it smell can bother more than others. If I go back I would rent the place again!

Good location, decent size rooms. Some of the staff were really knowledgeable and useful but some could use with more training. The elevator is an interesting historical one need to be patient as sometimes is not working properly. Breakfast was ok but it can easily be improved.

Great hotel. Unique. Each floor had its own theme decorations. Elevator was ‘old style’ with a cage - fun to ride. Hot breakfasts from 7:30-10:30 am. Comfortable bed. Will stay here again.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Just take note it's an older hotel so a mini fridge or microwave is not in your own room but shared in their cafe. It has an old time charm, but there were a couple of times the elevator kind of broke, so just watch out for that. Breakfast selection is okay, just the usual basics. The location is very convenient tho. Minutes from union square and a lot of food places nearby.
