"We gave Barceló another chance and I’m so glad we did. The food improved a lot since our last visit, the pool was always clean, and the amenities were great. Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely come back."

"Upon checking in we decided to book all of our specialty dining and excursions with the guest services. The woman would not book anything until we did a presentation on the vacation club they offer. It really is ridiculous, I never leave reviews for places but when people go on vacation they aren’t looking to attend pushy sales meetings. It was honestly super odd and unsettling. It wasn’t until we sat through a presentation that they booked our excursions with barely a discount even though we said we would pay full price to not attend said meeting. The food is also not good, the speciality restaurants we tried which were the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant were both not good at all. It’s also not apart of xcaret so if that’s why you’re booking this property don’t bother. "

"I honestly don’t know where to start- from the moment we walked on site at TRS, everything was a complete dream come true. The staff went above and beyond to spoil us the entire trip. From leaving little surprises and treats in our room, to ensuring we had a VIP table and beautiful room locations- this hotel has it all. We came for the quiet “low key” resort vibes and the food- but we will be back for the service and the incredible community. We’ve traveled all over the world and this is by far one of the best places we w stayed. The butlers ensured our room was completely cleaned and organized (multiple times a day), we never waited long for anything if we made a special request, and truly every moment was built with such intention and care. The resort was so spread out and spacious so nothing felt crowded, we had no issues getting dinner reservations when we needed them, and the grounds were magical to explore filled with beautiful wildlife. My one and only complaint is we had 2 girls who needed feminine products on the trip unexpectedly- and they don’t have any on site. We had to go to a neighboring resort store that was a little tricky to find/navigate. That being said- we can’t wait to come back to TRS! Oh- and DO NOT SKIP THE CHIC CABARET! One of the best resort shows we’ve ever seen and the food is unreal!"

"There’s a reason why my husband and I have travelled to this resort three times! Secrets Akumal checks off all of our boxes in terms of service, location, food, and amenities. The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive, and our room was always spotless with turn down service at night! Snorkelling is also big on our list and we have seen everything from sting rays, turtles, barracudas and many different kinds of reef fish. The resort grounds are lush and beautiful with many lovely flowers and palms. Each path has something different to look forward to! We’d like to give a huge shout- out to Baltazar at the Oceana restaurant for his attentiveness, and for making our last dinner on the resort a memorable one! He truly went above and beyond. If you travel to Secrets Akumal, you will dream about going back!"

"Pros: - Even though the buffet choices were not like other bigger resorts, the food quality and taste was good. - The resort is in a residential area. So you can walk around, see some stores and beaches. Cons: - It is surprisingly small if you’re used to larger resorts. - If you are looking for that typical carribean beach resort experience, don’t stay here. It doesn’t have a beach you could swim in. It’s basically for kids. An enclosed shallow section full of stones and seaweed. - Each of their few restaurants are closed for a couple nights of the week. So your dining options aren’t a lot on any given night. - The shows aren’t that good if you compare them to some other bigger resorts you’ve stayed in. - They have just one pool and another tiny one if you upgrade to their preferred club. All in all, I think this resort is more for people with kids and those who want a quiet place to just relax."
