Gale Miami Hotel and Residences

4/10 Poor

"Bathroom had hair from previous renter so it wasn’t cleaned properly. Shower glass had soap scum. Called and complained to front office. They said someone would come up and clean it. Got back in evening and old towels were still on the floor and no one came to clean. We finally called again and two ladies came to clean bathroom with just a towel, no cleaning products. I literally watched them wipe it down with a towel only. Next day, housekeeper finally came and cleaned our room. Cigarette box left outside of our balcony- plain sight from bedroom. Impossible to get ahold of front office staff at times. Late checkout is not an option even though our bathroom was dirty, they could have given us an hour more for some sort of compensation. They said it would be an automatic $100 late charge if we didn’t come down by 11am which was a lie because I was in the lobby at 11:09am and they didn’t charge me. Language barrier is an issue with staff so it was hard to communicate concerns at times. Overall, clean room but needs some work with staff attitude and protocols. Gianna cafe was great. Super friendly staff, except one staff member told us brunch wasn’t served on Sunday’s yet we had brunch on Sunday? Weird."

"Second time staying there. Great location if you are in downtown Miami, but more importantly, staff was very helpful. My daughter left her bag with wallet and keys, and the hotel retrieved it. In this day and age, it's refreshing to stay at a place where the staff is honest and helpful. Rooms are very large, and they have everything you need including a full kitchen. but we ate at the poolside restaurant/bar and the food was great. Thank you to the team at the Elsner."

"The hotel itself is very elegant. However, there were many things you weren't notified of before the visit including a security deposit which ranged between $500 and $1000 depending on the length of stay and upon check in the front desk clerk failed to tell of us of including our credit card for the deposit and we were locked out of our room on the third day and actually checked out of the hotel, the pool area and poolside bars close at sundown and nobody is allowed to congregate near the pools after that time, the availability of poolside or beach side chairs is very limited and not ample enough for the amount of guests, you are not allowed to carry beach towels back into the hotel, the car valet service is average at best and we waited over 30 minutes on several occasions for our vehicle which altered our schedules, the room key was not validated for late departure and we had to return to the front desk to do so after being locked out of the room, and last but certainly not least the fees for everything from a bottle of water and food to the price for valet parking ($80 per night) is inconceivable for a family to visit Miami Beach. There are plenty of other nice hotels in the area that offer better services and I doubt we will ever return to Fontainebleau based on our experience. Otherwise, the beach and weather were excellent."
