"We are an older couple who were visiting Santa Ponsa, for a 4 day stay, at the time of the 2026 total solar eclipse. We had chosen Hotel Playas Del Rey because of its location in the resort, hoping that, from the balcony of the seaview room we had booked, we would be able to view the total eclipse before the sun disappeared behind the distant hills. Our expectations were exceeded. We had a perfect view of the solar eclipse from its start until the sun set a few minutes after the time of the total eclipse. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed, good shower and very effective air conditioning. Staff were really helpful and pleasant. Our breakfast was served in a sea view restaurant very close to the hotel. It’s was good, not brilliant - but that was ok. There was a nice pool good for swimming or just cooling off and it was easy to find sun loungers or chairs with a parasol, The hotel is about a 3-4 minute walk from the beach. The street which the hotel is in has a number of restaurants, bars and small supermarkets so, for us its location was perfect."

"This was a nice hotel right across from the beach. The staff was nice. It is situated in a very touristy area. There are stores, nail shops, restaurants all around. If you don’t plan on leaving the area you won’t need a car. If you plan on bringing a car there is parking on the side street of the hotel and in the parking lot behind the McDonald’s. But I will warn you it can new hard to find a parking space especially on the weekends."

"Staff were excellent and accomodation in room spotless, it is a bit noisy and no lift so be prepared for the stairs all in all great location great staff and spotless rooms, great big balcony with sun loungers so if you can’t be bothered going to the pool you don’t have to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"Very clean . Staff friendly . Breakfast good. My only concern was there was no depth signs around the pool and also no hand rail for getting in and out of the pool. Signs saying no vaping or smoking around the pool - smoking area near the pool but those who vape were ignoring the sign. One guy even vaping whilst in the pool - needs to monitored ."

"I was a solo traveller, felt safe. Rooms very clean, free water and coffee and time is a bonus. Breakfast is lovely, not massive but has everything you could want. Room 108 has a very awkward toilet, think they are trying to make the best of a small space but this isn’t only criticism. Fair price, would book again"
