"A tidy and well-maintained place, conveniently located in the heart of the city. We stayed in the family room, which was spacious and comfortable, making for a very pleasant visit. The breakfast was enjoyable, with a great selection of delicious pastries."

"Comfortable and quiet. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff who went above and beyond. They even gave us a lift in the car one day, when the bus timetable was difficult, which was a great help."

"I was told there was no hotel parking, only street spaces or in Port Isaac—a ten-minute walk away. Luckily, we parked nearby, but later found there was poorly signposted hotel parking with just eight spaces. Better communication would have helped. Parking in Port Isaac is pay and display, up a steep hill, so dropping off luggage first is wise.
Reception was small and busy; we waited several minutes to be checked in, though the staff member was pleasant. Our room was spacious and well arranged, but lacked a separate shower. The bath had high sides, making access awkward, and heating was unreliable—often not working despite staff resets. Housekeeping was poor: only one cleaner for fifteen rooms. Our room was never properly cleaned, with towels unchanged after three nights until we requested replacements. The bed wasn’t remade, and daily cleaning was lacking.
Breakfast was the highlight, served by a caring staff member who remembered our preferences and was both prompt and friendly. Breakfast quality varied.
Apart from the breakfast staff, attention to detail was missing. Dining in the restaurant without a reservation felt inconvenient for staff, though tables were available. The food was acceptable but overpriced; the mussels were overcooked and portions small.
Generally, other staff were rushed and unhelpful, making us feel in the way. The team seemed to prioritise restaurant and bar guests over hotel residents.
We won't be staying again, and wouldn't recommend it."
"Our 3 bedroom barn lodge was clean, warm and cosy throughout. Beds were comfy although a little small (double beds in 2 out of 3 rooms) put in the rooms quite small so would only fit in double beds. Bathrooms were spotless. Sofas were huge and comfy. Had a really enjoyable day and would come back again."
"The hotel was so disappointing, the veiw of the sea from the bedroom window made up for the intial shock of this delapidated exterior, interior and even a basic hostel would have had more to offer. Everything needs replacing and gutted. Our room was clean but had splashs of white paint over the most stained carpet ive ever seen! The walls had bern painted but with two different shades of grey halfway down, the bathroom was clean but only had half a shower screen attached. The bed......my side was fine but my husband had terrible aches in the morning, bedding was clean but i dare not check under the mattress protector! Oh and no Tv channels available but the kettle did work, would i stay again,.no, but when its been revamped then i surely will."
"The location and views are exquisite. The exterior is beautiful and gives an exciting, mysterious feel. That is where the goodness ends. As soon as you enter the hotel, you enter a bizarre, cult-like atmosphere. The reception area is covered with pictures of the owner with famous people and a whole shelf showcasing his book. His face is everywhere! The other owner is an artist whose bizarre paintings cover every available surface in the hotel. Our room with a sea view was very basic with no amenities.
The bathroom is completely unacceptable. It is a plastic, modular unit tucked into the corner. I have seen larger bathrooms on airplanes. You could not raise your arms in the shower without hitting the walls. The flimsy shower curtain did not even go to the floor which meant the entire bathroom became wet and slippery.
The hotel feels rundown and neglected. The wallpaper in our room was dirty and there were cracks everywhere.
We left early after a strange conversation with the man at reception about religion and politics. The encounter gave me a uncomfortable feeling and we decided we did not want to stay our last night.
Overall, I was very disappointed. It could be an amazing place if the owners focused more on the guest experience and not their own. "
"The staff is exceptional! I have come to this hotel many times in the past 30days and have always been received warmly and professionally. Top marks for the location ( 3 minutes walk from Train Station ).
The rooms are very clean and normally have a Smart TV with all the VOD channels."
