The suburb of Nordstrand along the eastern side of Oslo Fjord has much to offer: from sandy beaches to walks in tranquil surroundings.

Nordstrand is the perfect base for a holiday on the shores of Oslo Fjord. Here, you will find plenty of opportunities for walking as well as beautiful beaches for those who just want to kick back and relax by the water. The area is also close to Oslo centre with its many shops and other attractions.

Nordstrand is a suburb in Oslo municipality on the eastern side of Oslo Fjord. It is one of the most populous areas of Oslo, but has retained an airy feel. Nordstrand is named after the house of the same name on Mosseveien 196 and is also one of the wealthiest parts of the Norwegian capital. The suburb’s inhabitants have Oslo’s highest net income and enjoy high life expectancy, with property prices to match!

In Nordstrand, you are close to the natural delights of Oslo Fjord. Nordstrand Bad features sandy beaches on the fjord with good facilities to match. You can also cross over the bridge to Ulvøya and visit Sydstranda (South Beach). The area offers many opportunities for walking, such as the route to Brannfjell, a recreational park situated on a hill southeast of Ekebergsletta.

Nordstrand is situated in attractive natural surroundings with much to entice the visitor. There are many excellent local restaurants and places to stay, but it is within easy reach of Oslo centre, with its lively urban vibe, museums and attractions.

Visitors to Nordstrand from the UK arriving at Oslo Airport can take the airport train directly into Oslo where there are bus or T-line connections to Nordstrand. It is also possible to rent a car from the airport if you wish to visit other destinations in Norway during your holiday.

Nordstrand offers visitors the ideal combination of the convenience and accessibility of a big city and natural beauty and outdoor pursuits. A holiday in Nordstrand is a great way to get into the Norwegian way of life and embrace nature.
