"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time. Hotel Sunshine Kinugawa

10/10 Excellent

"Awesome ryokan located in a super cool spot in Kinugawa. Our room was large and had a great view of the suspension bridge going over the river. The room smelled like hay but I think that was from the new tatami mats in our room, which for that reason I don’t mind. Hotel is old but extremely clean and well-maintained. Onsen is great and there are also private baths available for rental. This is my second time staying here and I would 100% stay again in the future."

"Our family enjoyed staying in the quiet countryside. The reservation includes a breakfast and dinner buffer, which was delicious. They also have complimentary drinks and snacks from 3 to 6pm. The hot springs felt relaxing as well. The hotel is isolated, and the nearest convenient store is a 10 minute walk away, but the trees and mountains really make you feel immersed in nature. Great reset from the hustle and bustle of city life."

"Excellent traditional Japanese ryokan hotel with great staff. Having a private onsen (some of the rooms only) overlooking the fast-flowing river was the cherry on top. The rooms are spacious and the in-house restaurant served excellently prepared and presented traditional Japanese food which was a great cultural experience."

"Sato san was very helpful and spoke good English. He explained to me everything clearly. I don't know why this is called a "premium" hotel as dining was limited to 90 minutes, but at the other hotel, which was not a premium, I did not have a time limit. Food was similar to the other non-premium hotels, except that their breakfast menu had slightly fewer variety. Their dinner and free refreshments include alcohol. What I loved about this ryokan is the onsen - they have different pools of onsen which was excellent. And the rooms are huge and newly renovated. I had a good view of the stream too. That was nice. What I did not like - the parking is not really on site. It is next to the hotel."
