Tv didn’t work and the sink had a major leak with a bucket underneath but it was quiet and safe for the most part. The balcony was a great relaxation spot and I was there for 2 days enjoying the city so I wasn’t too picky. Oh and 25 cent for a bucket of ice when I paid $300 to stay there was a little crazy to me but overall a nice laid back visit.
Room was dingy and the bathroom door was rotting away. The door to the room was about as thin as cardboard. The WiFi signal was decent. I had to wait 10 minutes at the front desk before anybody even came by to check me in. I know that happened to somebody else because when I was trying to sleep in the next morning, somebody at the front desk was shouting “HELLO…?” for like 30 minutes straight. I was frequently woken up by loud conversations people were having in the front lobby because the walls and doors were so thin and the people were so loud. These loud drunken conversations continued from midnight till about 5:45 am. The only good thing about this place is that it offers a cheap stay really close to the French Quarter but unless I was dirt poor and desperate I’ll never go back here again.
This was honestly the worst stay I’ve had. The entire place smelled like smoke, from the front desk all the way to the room, and the bed was in really poor condition.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize my checkout time and that part was my mistake. But they packed up and removed all my belongings without informing me. When I came back, I explained it was unintentional, offered to pay, and asked if I could extend my stay. Instead, they kept my $60 deposit, asked for another deposit with higher rent, and even charged me just to get my own belongings back. I chose to leave.
I had to book another hotel last minute, which cost more, but it was a relief to get out of there.
What really upset me was that my MacBook charging brick and skincare items were missing. The new front desk staff member did try to help, but when I calmly brought it up, Ms. Brooke became defensive and said everything had been packed. I checked multiple times and only found the cords. I even opened my suitcase at the front desk to show I wasn’t making this up.
I ended up taking a total loss of $128. This was a genuinely frustrating experience, and I wouldn’t stay here again.
