The Globe Inn
10/10 Excellent
"The staff were welcoming on arrival and friendly and helpful throughout our 4 night stay. Plenty of parking behind the Inn. We had a twin room which was perfect for our purposes (a double and a single bed) with an ample en suite. Breakfast was great to set us up for days out with a range of cooked or buffet options. There are only a few places to eat in the area in the evening but the Globe has a good pub menu that we made use of. The area is great and we borrowed bikes from the Globe to ride along the canal which is just behind their car park - it is also a very pleasant area to walk along away from the roads with well-maintained paths and wildlife to observe. We would definitely return as it makes a good base to reach both northern and southern Devon coastlines, Exeter and other attractions (we didn’t visit Diggerland in Willand but could easily have reached it. The bar is very busy in the evenings with both locals and visitors, a great atmosphere and closes at a reasonable time so we were never disturbed by any noise. Highly recommended for a stay, whether as a stopover or for a longer stay to visit the area."

"Absolutely lovely B&B. Hosts were super friendly on arrival. Love the little touches like bin emptying and replenishment of drinks and biscuits daily. Shower was super powerful and complementary toiletries were gratefully received. Would highly recommended this lovely little B&B."

"This is an excellent family run bed and breakfast in the centre of Tavistock. The room was spacious and even though the room was facing the road, I could not hear any traffic. The location was excellent and I loved the character of the road and houses. I would visit again."

"This is a magical place to stay. The remaining part of the castle, the gatehouse, is where our room was, and in fact we had use of a significant part of that building which is around 700 years old. We had a huge 4 poster bed which was very comfortable, and our own bathroom across the landing. We had access to the grounds which contain a chapel with 6th century origins. Some of the administration was not quite as perfect as we would have liked, but please persevere, as we did, and you will have a wonderful experience. A good continental breakfast was included. If you want to sleep in a genuine castle with a four poster bed, then you will struggle to find anywhere as good as this, and certainly not at this very reasonable price."

"It’s a lovely cottage which contains pretty much all you need. It’s very warm inside and there are lovely features. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, some biscuits and milk which was very thoughtful. Improvements would be that 3 people wanted a shower but the hot water ran out after 1.5 people. Also there were a few cobwebs around and it could do with a paint touch up here and there. Great value for money and we had a lovely stay."
