"We had a wonderful stay at Torel in Guimarães. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home, and every interaction felt thoughtful and personal. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and impeccably clean, with great attention to detail throughout. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. A particularly memorable touch was the handwritten welcome note waiting for us in the room — a small gesture that really made the stay feel special and personal. We also loved the hotel’s intimate little bar, which had a great atmosphere and was the perfect place to unwind in the evening. The breakfast was excellent as well, with high-quality ingredients and plenty of variety. The location is ideal for exploring Guimarães, with easy access to the historic center while still feeling like a quiet retreat. Overall, this was a standout stay and we would absolutely return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and memorable experience in northern Portugal. "

"Unfortunately, when we arrived at the property, we got the information that it was overbooked and that they did not have a room available for us, I made the reservation 30 min. before arrival. The receptionist's approach to the issue was not very nice, no apology and that I should have checked my messages, so it was my fault that I went to the hotel to check-in (?!). He reallocated us to a sister property with a lower star rating (Hotel do Paço by Vima Hotels) nearby which by the way was not nice and not even close to what we originally booked. They were not very keen in helping with the invoicing procedure, I wanted to get the difference in rate refunded and while I had to contact Expedia (who were very helpful) our presence was just ignored in the reception without even a glass of water. The receptionist from the sister hotel wouldn't wait for us, she was very rude over the phone with her colleague and left leaving the key in a locker. Having to deal with this after a full day tiring trip was not really what we expected. Of course, overbookings can happen in every hotel, that is not the point, the point was the customer service this property provided and the friendliness which just did not exist."

"This has got to be the most beautiful hotel we have yet to stay at. So clean and quiet with the most gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. The restaurant serves healthy and top notch gourmet food. The breakfast is delicious with a wide assortment of things. We will be back to stay here the next time we visit Portugal! "
