Mid-Atlantic hotel rooms a the Independent

"Location is great but disappointing in cleanliness, bathroom had a sewer smell and main door was busted which made it hard to open/close it. Other this his everything was good."

"I was pretty excited for our stay at the ocean hotel and casino. Check in was spot on. We got 21st floor with ocean view. Immediately when we entered the hallway the entire hallway smelled like cigarette. We tried to ignore (can’t really blame on the hotel staff). The room was fairly cleaned. We stepped outside for dinner. When we came back, my room smelled like weed. Not just little smell but filled with weed. I immediately brought it to the front desk, who was initially resistant for room change. The front desk personnel had to make a few phone calls and minutes and minutes after she gave us a different room. We were there when the cleaning staff came to inspect the previous room, and the only thing she did was just a couple spray of febreze. The second room we got was poorly cleaned. The trash was not emptied, the shampoo and conditioner were essentially empty. I was glad we got some towels. The casino machines are all old and need renovations. The only good thing about the hotel is the proximity to the beach but it’s inconvenient to get to other places. The stores were essentially dead and quiet, no convenient store available, the only one that sells canned alcohol beverages closes at 7pm. What kind of a place hotel casino is this? Unfortunately my family and I won’t be staying here ever again. "

"Our stay was wonderful! Everything was clean, staff was helpful, breakfast was good, location was convenient and we did not use the parking since we took the train. Hotel seemed to be taken care of even though it is a very old building. We would definitely stay again."

"Our stay in New York left us with mixed feelings The only positive aspect was the location The hotel is very close to Times Square, which was convenient and central Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing We arrived at 2:00 AM after a long flight and were told there was no room available, even though we had booked and paid in advance We were sent to another hotel in the middle of the night, which was extremely frustrating The next day, we were told to return in the morning, but the room was still not ready During our stay, the staff was not friendly or helpful On Friday evening, there was no hot water, so we couldn’t shower We contacted the front desk, but received no real assistance, only a general explanation To make matters worse, staff members mocked my accent when I tried to communicate, which was disrespectful and unacceptable Overall, this experience did not meet basic expectations and I would not recommend staying here."

"Arrived in NYC on the hottest day so far this year. I booked two rooms and one room had no functioning AC. Took almost 5 hours to determine the compressor was shot and then another hour or so to get a different room. The staff was wonderful during this issue and refunded a credit for the inconvenience."

"Clean hotel, attentive staff. Great location with nice views of the city. Starbucks downstairs in lobby for morning coffee and a muffin. Across from Madison Square. Parking at Dock as recommended right across the street and convenient. Subway right across the street. Restaurants and bars nearby. Would def stay here again. "
