"The hotel was nicely located to stores and restaurants. However, the evening attendant was sleeping when we tried to check in. In addition, the room itself was not kept up. The tub was chipping and looked unclean. The bed was lumpy and very uncomfortable. In addition, the headboard and remote had grit on it. Luckily I bring lysol wipes wherever I go. Part of the pool was roped off and unusable. Lastly, the chlorine smell was so strong it permeated our room which was on the opposite side of the hotel at the end of the hallway. "

"There were stains on the curtains and pillow cases, there was food left in the fridge. Kind of sad we were tired and did not complain to staff. I probably will not stay there again. There was tape over the elevator buttons and people were randomly drinking in the lobby In a place were the competition is high you would think they would be a higher station and professional level. There was incense burning in the lobby to cover the smell of weed . "

"Very disappointed in the Lord Essex restaurant. Normally very good but had Shrimp Scampi that was cold, shrimp not cooked and smelled funny. I will go back, the closeness to Mayo is remarkable, but may skip Lord Essex."

"Breakfast was ok. Bagels cereal yogurt. Staff was very attentive. Room and common area clean. Iron and full size ironing board helpful. Only complaint not enough closet space to hang clothes. You can hear people in next room as well as hallway. Lots of traffic with people having early appointments at Mayo clinic. "

"The hotel is an older hotel, however it is really taken care of and very comfortable. Our room was large, bed was comfy and the pillows were wonderful too. There are cute animals made out of the washcloths and hand towels. A cute addition for your stay. The breakfast was pretty satisfying. Something for everyone. Hot eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cearals both hot and cold, waffles, toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices and coffee. Will definitely stay there again when in the area. Lots of restaurants and shopping just down the street."
