We had a brilliant time staying at The Principal Madrid. Throughout our stay, all hotel staff were friendly and helpful with all my requests. They were able to lend me an adapter when I forgotten mine. I requested two beds and a quiet room and this was fulfilled. The terrace was lovely and had a splendid view of the city. Although they provide a dental kit, their toothbrush is not nice to use - bring your own toothbrush. There are many shops around the area; some local cafes and restaurants. Very close (walking distance) to many landmarks. Their spa service is a spa room where there are just two massage beds. The service was excellent and you pay at check out. We will definitely revisit this hotel.

It was our first visit to Madrid so we wanted to stay right in the centre and The Principal is in a great location. As you enter there is a flight of stairs and the doorman takes your details then bundles you into a small lift to reception on the 6th floor. The reception is between the restaurant and the bar and both look lovely,

Convenient location, but parking is difficult and not ideal for travelers with a car. Elevators are small and require transfers, which can be inconvenient. Our room had a nice view, but there was a noticeable sewer smell. Overall, it did not feel like a Michelin-level hotel.

Best roof deck in Madrid. The 6th floor bar lounge is beautiful with a south facing patio (we were there for New Years). Above the bar is a spacious and varied roof deck with views, private shaded areas, fountains; jaw dropping. We had some trouble checking in. There was no one to tell us that reception was on the 6th floor, and weirdly, no signs. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were more body size than head pillow. The staff were very good a finding us a table for New Years dinner but unfortunately the set menu was light on gluten free options, so we never ate at the restaurant.
