"The staff were excellent especially the young man who checked us in, served dinner and served at the bar. I didn’t sleep much at all the first night because of the very hard mattress but after I asked if we could have an extra duvet on the bed then the second night I slept much better. Breakfast was plentiful but the service was very slow. We had dinner here both evenings and it was ok but again the service was very slow. We would stay here again."

"The breakfast menu was all fresh, I was particularly impressed with the freshly prepared fruit but it was all very good. My only suggestions would be to include a bar of soap in the bathroom and an alternative to black tea and coffee in the bedroom as I cannot drink either option. In fairness I had brought my own herbal tea bags as I know it can be a problem. "

"The one good thing about this place is the staff. In all other respects this was a very disappointing and unpleasant experience: We were unable to use the car park because of the white vans that were in the way. The room was not especially clean The ‘double’ bed in the room was tiny, barely able to accommodate two people and very uncomfortable No WiFi This place was not staffed overnight so when the fire alarm went off at 6AM no one turned it off and no one came to check on the guests. We left while the alarm was still going. "

"An absolute gem in beautiful Ripon! The suite was perfect! Immaculately presented and quiet. The bed was supremely comfortable, with high quality bed linen! The breakfast was one of the best that I’ve ever had, and the service from Rick was impeccable. If you’re having doubts about booking, don’t! I shall certainly be back!"

"A birthday treat for my girlfriend, it was the perfect setting for a cosy weekend away immaculately clean and well presented with everything we needed, really enjoyed out stay and will definitely staying again in the future "

"Room was in good condition however it was a disabled room that was not advised on booking. There was an intermittent unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. Seeing the disabled room I immediately requested a room change but here was not much enthusiasm as we had a 2 night stay and was told the hotel was full the following night so not much they could do and on the first night there were currently no other made up rooms. Overall the staff at the bar and in the restaurant and around the hotel were very good however breakfast on Sunday morning left a lot to be desired in terms of service as anything cooked took an age to arrive and my wife after at least half an hour gave up on hers but it did arrive as we were leaving! The grounds and facilities are excellent. On departure I was clear to my complaint on the room, I was offered a token without any any investigation and offered access to speak with the deputy manager. I declined both and hoped it would have been dealt with differently as my point was not financial and being fobbed off with £50 and having to request the manager did not feel right. My intention was to convey disappointment with the room in the hope of investigation and recognition to a problem with some assurance it would not remain an issue for others. I left feeling no one really cared! "
