"We very much enjoyed our week at Privileges Aluxes. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. It is a very quiet resort. The staff is wonderful, especially Jesus and Jose at the desk, and all of the servers at the Beach Club and Sabor. We will be back."
"Overall, Izla Hotel is a solid value for the price. The property is beautiful, clean, and very well-maintained. We rented a golf cart every day, and I'm glad we did—without it, we probably would have gotten bored since we found ourselves leaving the resort often.
The biggest disappointment was the food. Although the hotel advertises two restaurants, only one was open each day during our five-night stay. I'm not a foodie, so it wasn't a dealbreaker for me, but my husband was very disappointed by the limited options. We ended up eating off property for many meals, and in hindsight, I wouldn't pay for the all-inclusive package again. The poolside menu was a nice convenience, though. At this price point, I think expectations should be realistic—you can't expect luxury dining at a budget-friendly resort.
The beach was decent, although the neighboring Hotel Belo seemed to do a better job managing the seaweed. We also had to go next door for massages because the spa was closed when we wanted appointments. The adults-only pool was beautiful and peaceful, but it was always empty, and I never saw the pool bar open.
On the positive side, the staff was friendly, especially Jesus, who provided outstanding service. My kids also loved the pizza when it was available, though it was frequently unavailable.
Would I stay here again? Probably not but only to try something new. But if you're looking for a clean, attractive hotel at an affordable price, I would recommend."
"Casa de las Suenos was a lovely, small hotel at the top of a small hill. Our room was lovely with a beautiful ocean view. The staff couldn't have been more helpful in booking tours, taxis etc. and we really enjoyed talking with them. It is a bit older and has some things like older plumbing, non-filtered water etc. but we liked it enough to go back sometime. There is only one restaurant, but Udon across the street is absolutely delicious as well. We enjoyed our stay here!"
Almare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Isla Mujeres Cancun, Adult All-Inclusive
8/10 Good
"First of all, the hotel itself is beautiful and the room was fabulous. The biggest downfall was the service was very unpredictable which can happen at an all inclusive. We wanted to tip, but no one could give us change for larger bills and the administrative staff didn't seem to concerned about us tipping. Some of the employees seemed pretty unhappy, and I can only guess that is why. We thought the menu was great and had many options, but some guests felt differently. We are pretty chill travelers and we liked it enough to consider it in the future."
Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets – Adults only – All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"My wife and I travel to resorts at least once a year expecting to spend ~$2.6k/head, but we splurged (~double) on this one for our honeymoon. We stayed at this one for 6 days/nights. Here's our honest review of this property.
Service/Staff, 5/5:
Unparalleled. We had access through WhatsApp to a personal butler that would help us with property information, events, and restaurant reservations. Never had a better service experience.
Food, 2.5/5:
We are not picky eaters; we have quite international palates. However, for the price we paid, the food was severely lacking quality. While it was possible to find gems of certain items at the restaurants, there was an inconsistency across dishes; meat being over/under-cooked was common. The best plate of pasta we had on the trip was at the airport as we left to go home.
Entertainment/Events, 4/5:
Great diversity of things to do at the resort included in your stay. Night life was an earlier crowd which is good if you're 30+.
Accommodations, 5/5:
We took the ocean-front view room with an outdoor hot tub. It was a clean room stocked with many of the things you'd expect to need and more. Obviously you'd end up with a different experience depending on your suite tier. No complaints here.
Outdoors, 4/5:
The main pool had a lot of debris in it at times and shade was a commodity, but this wasn't a deal breaker for us. We didn't explore the other pools much as the main pool's swim-up bar was our lifeline."
