"Muriel at the front desk was extremely helpful and courteous, wonderful historic art deco building right on Michigan Ave., great location and views, really nice, spacious and clean room. Chateau Carbide on the 24th floor is definitely worth checking out, nice cozy areas to hang out, sit on a couch and have a drink while enjoying great views of the city. We also got a free ride from the hotel to the Shedd Aquarium."

"Beautiful hotel! Love the lobby bar and the rooftop seating with gorgeous fire tables offer lovely city landscape backdrops for amazing photos. Bonus points for being connected to Nordstrom/ my husband always appreciates sitting at the Nordstrom bar while I shop! "We loved Riu Plaza. We were just there for a short getaway - but everything about the hotel was just right. Great staff, beautiful room, an amazing breakfast buffet. It would be nice to be there to be able to take advantage of the rooftop bar in better weather! It's a two-minute walk to North Michigan Avenue/Magnificent Mile and a comfortable 1/2 stroll to the Art Institute of Chicago. Highly recommend."

The happy hour was excellent and the game room and bar on the second floor was fabulous. The customer service was phenomenal. They surprised my husband with a goody bag for his birthday which was the icing on the cake. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations but it was still a great stay. "
