"It does take about an hour of a cramped and winding busride to get to the hotel from Odawara Station, but on the other hand the bus stops right by the hotel, and once you're here you're just across the street from Togendai where both the famous ropeway and pirate ships start their tours. The hotel has a luxurious feel to it with the foot bath overlooking the lake by the lobby and the rooms feeling pretty spacious, especially the ones with a private tub on the balcony which is 10/10. The baths are great, though they aren't the hottest we've tried on our trip, they come in so many versions with both silky bath and outdoor pools where the view varies between morning and afternoon when men and women switch sides. Tattoos are allowed if you cover them up, and the hotel sells covers on the lobby if you forgot them. In some places the hotel is starting to show its age which made me sad, but it still feels like the staff cares about making your stay as perfect as possible with how smooth everything runs. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day and enjoyed both, there's a good mix of Japanese and western food so everyone can find what they're looking for - be that natto or croissants."

"Bus stop right out front and convenient to the ropeway stop. Beat the crowds and go clockwise (ship, ropeway, then cable car). Black eggs stop worth it. Need cash if not using the H or K buses. Hakone pass was worth it as it covered the ferry, ropeway, cable car and H and K busses. The private onsen was really good after a day out. You book it for an hour and is included in your booking. Room #1 has its own shower, others use the onsen showers."

"I only booked a room for one night but Hotel de Yama was a great place to stay. It's a short hike away from the Motohakone stop, and if you choose to walk it you will need to walk on the road. Cars in the area seem to be used to this though so as long as you're on the shoulders you will be OK. Otherwise, they provide a free shuttle bus that picks up directly in front of the 7-Eleven by the bus station The hotel itself is quite close to the torii gate, which is nice. I didn't get a chance to use the public bath, but the Japanese style breakfast in their restaurant was really nice and delicious. Due to my short stay I also didn't get a chance to explore the large garden area, but it seems very well kept by the staff, from what I saw from my room window."

"Nice setting (and surrounding area within Hakone) and we enjoyed the serenity of this property. This property is a bit aged, so air conditioning is absent in room. Weather was good during our stay (not super humid hot) so we had no issue. Having said that, I would imagine we would definite appreciate the traditional style of heating when visiting during winter with its snowy view over the golf course."

"We loved our stay! The room was quiet and comfortable. We loved the public baths and breakfast (we didn't have dinner with our room). The staff was very welcoming. There's also a shuttle from the hotel down to the bus stop in Motohakone or it's an easy 15 min walk. "
