"I never saw an image of the exterior of the building in the advertisement on Expedia. I never read that access to the upper floor was via a steep staircase which made carrying two suitcases to one’s room difficult. The place appears to be managed by the Wat Hotel next door but without access to the Wat’s facilities. The walls between the rooms were such that one could plainly hear conversations next door. The room was fine but the experience frankly disappointing."

"This place is fantastic. A close walk to the train station- convenient walk to everything and the place is great. Large, comfortable, really well appointed and immaculately clean. Everyone loved it. "Room was large and clean. They delivered fresh towels and drinking water daily. Quiet and right next to the station. There is a bike rental next door where we rented e-bikes and road all over Takayama. Great fun! Really good Katsu restaurant west under the tracks and then a few blocks straight to Starbucks. Turn right one block to Donkatsu. Well priced and good quality. Would stay here again in a heartbeat."
