"Really enjoyed our break at the Royal Oak hotel, Easy check in, very quiet room and comfortable Could not fault anything. Meals were lovely Breakfast was to die for very good quantity produce, really set us up for the day. Staff and manager were very attentive. Looking forward to staying hear again."

"An extraordinary place. Outstandingly beautiful position under Barf Fell, and with further beautiful walk ( less than ten minutes) down to the shores of Bassenthwaite lake. This bnb is a place of balm to the soul! Your wonderful hostess has made a habit of rescuing chickens; (fresh eggs on the table every morning), dogs; and restoring the crockery decorating this charming, characterful house which goes back many centuries. Sitting at your window seat overlooking the glorious garden and on to the lake, and eating the baking provided daily, you may want to stay forever. Less than ten minutes into Keswick, though. And a hostess who will respect your privacy, but is also superbly warm. My second visit, and I will be back."

"Lovely hotel but not having air conditioning during the hot summer months is not great. Also for a high end hotel you would think they would have decent fans. Not a £30 thing from Argos."

"The Potter suite that I was staying in had the most beautiful view on the lake and the mountains. My comfortable room was being cleaned every day. I can also recommend the bathtub in which I took very relaxing baths. The staff is friendly and accommodated to all of our needs and were overall just very helpful. Taking morning walks to the lake is also something that I enjoyed doing a lot. The hotel truly has a magical garden. I will definitely come back to the Derwentwater Hotel when I visit the Lake District again. "
