"I had an absolutely terrible experience at The New Yorker Hotel. After my stay, I was hit with a $500 "smoking fee" despite the fact that I do not smoke and did not smoke in the room. This is a blatant cash grab and a complete lack of integrity on the hotel's part. When I tried to resolve this on-site, the lack of professionalism was staggering. I requested to speak with a manager and was simply handed a business card. I have reached out multiple times to the contact provided, but they have completely ignored my messages. I also asked for a manual check (instead of automated sensor) to check for smoke and was denied. Attempting to dispute the charge has been a nightmare because of their refusal to communicate. Warning to future travelers: Stay elsewhere. There are plenty of hotels in New York that won't slap you with fraudulent fees and then hide behind a non-responsive management team. This was a dishonest and stressful experience from start to finish."

"I had a pleasant experience at the hotel. The staff members were very friendly. The hotel had a nice rooftop bar with great views of that city. And bonus - it’s in walking distance to Madison Square Garden. "

"There was a very squeaky door in room near by or above us that seemed to be used all night and day. So loud it woke me a couple of times. The bellman was very friendly and helpful. I felt misled when I asked for a King and it wasn’t a traditional sized king. When I enquired at the desk they just brushed it off like everyone should know that New York has smaller kings. I measured it, it’s smaller than a ‘hotel’ king. I’m 5’2 and my feet hung over the end! I personally would not recommend this location. It’s very dated, loud and breakfast was incredibly crowded and under stocked. It was as clean as an old building could get (except the red stains on our carpets) "

"The hotel was very clean and the staff was absolutely wonderful. The vending machine downstairs was not working, so there was no place to get bottled water, a soda or really anything to drink unless you bought it off property. The decor is definitely dated, but it was perfect for our weekend Stay in New York City. "
