The Clifton Hotel

"One night stay for a visit to Open Air Theatre. The Clifton was well located and although we couldn't get a space in the car park we were given a on street permit to use. Room was a small double, was ok for our needs."

"Great location for all areas of Scarborough. If you want a no frills place to stay with on street parking costing just £8 for 24 hours this place fits the bill. Jonathan greeted us and couldn’t have been more helpful. Yes rooms are not 4 or 5 star luxury but are clean, comfortable and well appointed (great for our stay to attend a concert at the open air theatre) 15 minutes away. Tea/coffee making facilities and complementary biscuits. Value for money and the other guests we met were all polite and sociable. The only downside for us was that we had trouble getting to sleep due to the sound of the seagulls who appeared to be very loud compared to other accommodation we have stayed in (think they were trying to compete with the artists appearing on stage😂😂and certainly nothing to do with the accommodation). All in all if we attend another concert in Scarborough we would consider staying here again"

"Enjoyed our one night stay while visiting to see a concert, we were in room 208 sea view, recently had a bathroom update by the look of it very clean. Have to appreciate this is a very old hotel and looks like parts are starting to get refurbished which is good. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that."

"The staff member was ver helpful but parking was troublesome as it was very tight. There was another car park around the back which was much more accessible. Have advice of places to eat in nearby area. All good. "

I think some guests expect too much of the hotel but all the staff are extremely friendly,helpful and try their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This is an iconic building and hotel in Scarborough a fantastic east coast location should be cherished as a gem in progress"
