The hotel is across from the train station, the hotel needs updating, carpet was worn plug in the bathroom sink was slow for the water to run away, very quiet as the room was sound proofed.
Clean and comfy bed and clean towels and tea and coffee in the room ironing board and iron and hairdryer shower gel and shampoo and conditioner provided.
The room was cleaned every day staff were very nice we didn’t have the breakfast we were told that breakfast was very good evening meal was very good also bar meals were good.
From the queen hotel to the city centre it only takes about 20mins the city centre is lovely lots to see and to explore
The location is good it's about a 15 min slow walk into the city centre. The hotel is opposite the train station so it can be noisey. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The bar at night lacked ambience. The lights were to bright and with a wide screen TV it felt more like a sports bar than a relaxing place for a drink. Breakfast in the kings grill was not great the pastries coffee and juice were poor quality and the seating was stained and tatty . The bedroom was clean.
Always like this hotel - and the staff have always been helpful.
When i requested a quiet room they moved me to a room overlooking the garden area . All good, clean and comfy, complimentary water etc.
They seem to have removed real ales from the bar which is a shame - although fantastic bar opposite in the station so not a biggy!
Check in was quick and the staff extremely helpful.
The location was great and although opposite the station the room was quiet.

Great location, very central and easy to get around. Helpful and friendly staff. Pretty basic rooms but decent for the price (although the showers could do with an upgrade - barely able to take a decent shower due to the wall positioning over the bath).
Stayed here before but it’s been renovated and the room was a great size everything clean and perfect. Staff lovely. breakfast was great too would stay here again.
Nice refurbished room on the 1st floor that had the benefit of air con and an opening window. Staff were really helpful on check-in as were those in the bar area. Didn't eat there but enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard area and meeting the hotel cat Queenie 😁
