Escape from the rush in this beautiful park, nearby Singapore city centre. Marvel at the indigenous plants and animals, or enjoy some outdoor sports.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is a massive parkland area of 162 hectares, containing the highest point in Singapore, along with one of its largest rainforests. The reserve takes its mission of conservation very seriously, and over 500 breeds of animals, along with 840 types of flowers. It has been designated as an ASEAN Heritage Park. Alongside this commitment, it also caters for the more adventurous visitor, with provision made for ramblers, rock climbers and mountain bikers. On arrival in the reserve, check out the Visitor Centre for more information on the environmental work and the fascinating biodiversity here, as well as the history of the parklands. Maps can be obtained here to orient your walk around the park, or you can join a guided tour.Panoramic views over the reserve and back towards Singapore city centre are available from Bukit Timah Hill, which at 163 metres in height, is the tallest point on the island. At the foot of the hill, an abandoned granite quarry has been put to good use as a place for rock climbing, while biking trails also criss-cross its floor. A dazzling lake has also been installed in the quarry, adding much to the beauty of the surroundings. You can travel the 12 kilometres to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve by car or by bus. There is parking available at the Visitor Centre, but it can be difficult to find a space at busy times. An overflow car park is available at neighbouring Dairy Farm Nature Park, which offers a different entrance to the reserve. Entry is free of charge and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is open every day.
