"The pictures and the rating for the hotel and rooms were misleading. The rooms were fithy. The walls were covered in dust. The dust on some of the flat surfaces was so thick that it must have been there for months or possibly years. A/C unit made popping sounds all day an night and barely worked. The shower leaked all over the tiny bathroom floor. There was only hot water for less than 2 minutes to shower with and then went ice cold. The towels were paper thin and felt like sandpaper. The toilet paper rolls were so small, that a family uses it up in half a day. Then You had to go to the front desk to get more toilet paper and they would give you 1 roll. The safe didn't work. I figured out that it needed new batteries, which they did provide. The only good thing about the hotel is that the staff, probably because of feeling bad that you choose this hotel, did try to be a little helpful."
"This is a very fine modern hotel located in the heart of Kota Kinabulu. We particularly appreciated the fact that it was a short walk to the restaurant row on the waterfront which offered outdoor seating and a variety of cuisines."
"1. The Oceanus Shopping Mall is not fully operational. However the 3 convenient-marts along the corridor did help.
2. The bathroom walk-in closet is fantastic. More lighting in shower and vanity area will help in attending ourselves. Sofa and carpet looks pretty aged. It will be good if there’s a sofa cover (washable) to rest on, feeling more fresh and comfortable. The tv top quarter screen illumination is dark-shaded, uneven one-sided brightness. But tv channels are pretty fantastic. The phone, “At Your Service” button is not working. We have to go to front desk to order food.
3. If there’s poster/notices at the concierge corner, it’d help to remind us on local tours and attractions to explore. We overlooked some important tours.
4. Services and attentiveness are pretty sharp and impressive, by the hotel gentlemen. Especially Nizam, the Teh-Tarik guy at breakfast, the breakfast manager (i think?), the Chinese spectacled guy receiving us from Grabs, and also Suhayl. All are sincere, polite, calm, and relaxing cool vibes. And the fair big (fat?) chef, that cooked my char kway teow to “perfect” flavor, only got him once, then he’s gone! (Why?!) This is the most homely feel to us. So keep up snd well done!
5. In future, we hope for a nice developed walkway, from hotel all the way to Suria Sabah, and to Imago Mall. We do enjoy our walks. But the area’s touting activities: massage services and seafood, feels rather intrusive. Otherwise, local tours are pretty refreshing."
"Fine for the price but the accommodation is tired, the toilets block (two rooms in our group had this problem) and the showers can flood through the gap to the rest of the bathroom. Beds are comfortable enough. Really dirty underneath the beds though in all the rooms our group had.
Breakfast was good and we also had one dinner here which was good too. Good, central location and not too noisy. "
