First and foremost, the staff at El Carmen are wonderful, especially Arnold who took care of us from arrival to departure and the staff at breakfast. Our room was lovely, well-appointed and had a fantastic hot shower. We loved having lunch in the courtyard and breakfast on the terrace. The food was really good and well-priced. After 6 weeks in Guatemala, we can say this was our favorite hotel experience.

Great location in the middle of Antigua - walking distance to everything (Central Park, Mercado, and the Arch) Staff extremely helpful and accommodating (cleaned our rooms everday, despite not asking) Breakfast is a great deal (order anything off the menu) Also, they provided a very simple bag lunch (sandwich) for when our excursion left before breakfast time. AC worked great in our room… walls are a little thin so you can hear other guests as they make their way through the hotel and stairs… but overall a great value - would stay there again!

The rooftop here was AMAZING, and the included breakfast was a brilliant perk. The staff was so lovely, the room was spacious, and the bathroom was great. Location was peak as well, would recommend staying at El Carmen.

This is a great central location. Good place to stay a few nights. The beds are comfy but no phones in rooms. Amazing food on the terrace restaurant. It can get somewhat noisy with guests walking in the hallway but it dies down by 10:30 pm. For an extended stay, I’d likely book another hotel. I prefer to have more personal space when sharing a room. Amazing staff, they truly make a difference and some speak English.
