"Der Gasthof ist ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen. Rezeption sehr freundlich und Frühstück freundlich und gut. Restaurant nicht zu empfehlen. Starker Geruch nach Bratfett, Bedienung nur gelegentlich für die Gäste da und leider viel zu teuer für die nur mässige Qualität."
"This is a very nice hotel. The room we had was spacious with an excellent bath/shower room and separate wc.
Really comfort bed.
Right in the heart of the little town - which is a lovely place.
The restaurant and bar is very good and the prices extremely affordable.
The small pool was very refreshing.
The service from all of the staff is excellent!
Parking right outside the door !

"A wonderful stay at this olde worlde charm hotel. Frau Brendel makes one feel most welcome. The hotel is ideally situated diagonally across the road from the impressive basilica, 30metres from bus station and also 30metres from the (helpful) Tourist Office. The breakfast (included in the hotel tariff) was hearty."
"The surroundings are great but we found the hotel itself a bit overpriced. Very small room, needs a bit refreshing. Breakfast was very good and we were nicely received by all the members of the staff. "
"Einfaches Hotel. Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer. Schlicht, klein für 1 Nacht ausreichend. Sauberkeit OK - die Dusche zeigt leider schwarze Flecken an den Rändern."
"Helt sikkert et sted vi gerne kommer tilbage til. Virkelig oprigtig service og dejligt rummelig og rent værelse. Let at køre til. Der er en lille restaurant som kan anvefales og god morgenmad."

Limestone caves of Sophienhöhle invite exploration with their dramatic stalactites and underground chambers. Hike through the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park's forested valleys or climb the distinctive rock formations popular with local climbers.

ibis budget Bayreuth
10/10 Excellent
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We knew it was an Ibis Budget when we booked so were expecting limited facilities as we have stayed with this chain before, but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the stay. The room was compact, had facilities to hang clothing but no where to put other clothing this had to remain in the suitcase for the duration of the stay. Bathroom was great, lovely shower with plenty of hot water. No drink making facilities in the room but again we were aware of this limitation with the Budget chain so took plenty of water and soft drinks.
It was a short walk from the railway station and there was a local bus that ran frequently to take us to the Festival Hall where we watched Wagners Ring Cycle, for the more energetic it is within walking distance and we chose to walk back each night which was easy. This is the closest hotel to the Festspielhalle if you are attending the Festival, however, this does mean that you are a little bit further from the centre of the town, but again walking is not a great distance and buses are available.
The only quibble, and it is a minor one is that the room cleaning was not very great. The bathroom was cleaned daily, bed made, but the floor was not swept/vacuumed once in our 8 day stay.
Breakfast was excellent and the kitchen staff worked really hard, big thank you to all the staff, reception and the bar were 24/7 so when we arrived after midnight we were able to check in and get a drink. Would recommend."
"Friendly staff, updated/tasteful furnishings, and decent location. It’s a little far from the Festspielhaus (if you’re there for the Wagner festival), but they run a complementary shuttle to and from the operas, along with a complementary reception (with prosecco and snacks) right beforehand, which was a nice touch. "Our stay was very nice, with only 2 issues which we truly were not pleased with. Paid for parking, but they have an issue with non-payers getting into the parking garage. Therefore, no parking 2 evenings in a row. Going back & forth, checking if a space was available. This was very unfortunate. The garage has a card key entry, but another could come in right behind. The easiest way is to have someone come thru hotel lobby, push the garage level button, without needing a card entry. Then person can get downstairs and open the garage door from downstairs. Frustrating for sure. The other issue, much less frustrating, no coffee ability in the room. Staff members were very nice, except for one who chose to count his cash box instead of trying to help with our parking situation. "

Only little thing was I thought I’d booked a room with air on, which the room didn’t have. There were two big fans though and this did the job.
I would definitely stay again if in the area.

"The room was so clean and comfortable! It was warm but the front desk allowed us to borrow fans. It was very spacious. Breakfast was a really great spread. The hotel is very close to town, no more than a 15 minute walk. The only problem I had was I had to have cash to get water and didn’t bring any so I had to run to the store to get water with my card. But other than that it was perfect. It was very accommodating for our dog as well!"
"A very basic guesthouse, not a hotel. There is no front desk and no staff on duty except during breakfast and dinner. Access is via a machine booth. The room was fine but there was only a bath (no shower). The breakfast was below average for German accommodation, but better than most US hotels. There were no foam pillows, only feather. Entire premises could do with a good clean. The corridors and stairwell had cobwebs. Conveniently located to a gym."
