"Lovely location and good view from outside space. We had to phone twice in an hour to get the check in information after 3pm. The shower was blocked and very very mouldy on arrival. The blockage was fixed but remained very dirty. Their was a lack of facilities - main light not working in bedroom, bedroom and kitchen not in same apartment, no cover for duvet, only see through net curtains, only one dinner sized bowl/plate, very dirty sofa in kitchen space, stale smell throughout on arrival. "

You could hear a lot outside during the stay but it did not bother us unlike the last night. "Beautiful spot, but difficult to access without a rental car. We were travelling on foot/train/bus and we had to rely solely on the 2 or 3 taxis in the township. The walk was ok downhill, but very arduous going back (We're in our 70's). We chose Varenna as it much more affordable than Ballagio, and the views are simply breathtaking. With a car, this would have been perfect, but we also found that the locals were very accommodating and actually took us home in their own vehicles a few...
