"I booked this after seeing there’s only one albergue in Gernika and feeling unsure it would be open. You enter the hotel through the reception bar, the bartender gave me the keys. The room was modest but clean, although the mattress and duvet could’ve used another sheet each as they were well worn. Slightly squeaky bed, decent shower pressure. All in all, not worth the 40 euros but I had little choice."

The hotel is well located both within the Basque countryside but also within walking distance of the town (20 minutes), which affords many bars and restaurants (indeed a disproportionate number for so a small a town - I counted about 20!)
