Location was great.
Hotel is old and the rooms are tired.
If you want decent service this hotel is not for you. The service was shockingly bad none of the front of house staff or restaurant staff spoke any english which resulted in every order wrong whether it be food or drinks, the hotel itself is clean the room is good but the staff are awful maybe because they cannot communicate they seem rude and ignorant. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone there are far better quality hotels in the area for a better price
Hot water didn't work first day of stay and the air conditioner never worked. We had maintenance in 3 or 4 times and never fixed. We were never offered a room change. Very disappointed in this hotel and will stay at other hotels in future.
The grand inna Hotel is located right in the famous malioboro area. The staff is nice and friendly. The room is spacious and clean. Thanks for staff Grand inna. Good job.

Hotel Impression
Was there in 2004 had a good memory of the hotel building, name and breakfast. Impressed then by the array of local breakfast served in a traditional woven basket and underline banana leafs. The continental breakfast then was tasty. Back again in 2016. Found the breakfast spread no longer enticing and not as good as in 2004. Back again last week from 25 to 28 July 2018. Hotel name changed and the breakfast becomes ordinary. Not as good as in 2004. But the friendliness and helpful hotel staff made my stay there memorable and would possibly come back. Hope the breakfast can be as good as in 2004.
Hotel toilet is a little run down. Staff is very friendly but cannot communicate in English well. No safe in room despite what was advertised on the website. Air conditioning was cool only despite setting on the lowest level.
Location was excellent but the condition of the room was extremely bad. No safe in the room, no fridge in room! After complained, then was transferred to another room with fridge. Was told Superior Room comes with 2 single beds, no King at all. Given 2 bars of soap and shampoo, not even conditioner nor shower gel. Definitely not deserve a 4-stars rating. Received no emails response from them despite 3 sent.
If you want to be in the heart of the Malioboro area and still want some comfort I would recommend this hotel. Rooms were comfortable but the breakfast was amazing. So much variety both Indonesian and International food. I have already booked another stay.
I stayed for 2 nights in this hotel from 2 to 4 May 2017. I would recommend it to anyone who might accept that this hotel badly needs capital injection. I enjoyed the colonial decor and the space it provides - no other new, modern hotel accommodation gives you the experience of 'wealth' and 'grandeur'.
Breakfast was plentiful but don't expect a full English/American but local sweet pastries are available. However, for an Indonesian who live in Europe like me it was a delight to see my childhood foods available everyday, not to mention the traditional gudeg Yogya that I have missed for so long....

Staffs are polite and helpful. Enjiy the stay but the hotel needs some refurbishment
that night was blackout for last a few minutes, and water was black color definitely polluted by something in the morning, I showed it to the house keeping, they said they were fixing it, but they could not figure it out the reason, the most important thing to stay at a hotel is that provided clean water for customer, I was almost using black color water to wash my face/brush my teeth, totally without sanitation.
I dont think my room was cleaned properly and there was no safety deposit box in the room, only at the reception. The bed was old and uncomfortable. We were given for smoking rooms (they were smelly and we found cigarrette ash trays provided in the bathrooms) event though we explicitly booked non smooking rooms. Only when we complained we were given rooms on the 5th floor which are non smoking rooms.
