"Has problem with the shuttle bus driver when we arrived at Echigo Yuzawa station as he insists us to show him the bus voucher. The apps that the hotel sent to me was unable to open so I told the driver that I will give it to him at the hotel but he didn't accept eventhough I showed him my booking and receipt. "

"The hotel and staff are fine. My issue was with our particular room. It had a nice modern kitchen, with walls that were red brick, two different odd wall paper, and a beach mural. The ceiling was green with pink trim. The two twin beds were mismatched in style and height. The couches and bedding sheets were dirty with stains. As I look through their advertised rooms, I don’t see pictures of our particular room."

"This was our first time in a Ryokan! And we loved it!! We enjoyed wearing the Kimonos provided and having a multi course dinner! They were also able to provide vegetarian options for dinner as well. "Amazing stay at Shimaya. The owners, as mentioned in other reviews are outstanding. Gave us a ride to the Snow Monkeys and were very helpful. The breakfast (¥700) was simple and quick - toast, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and juice! Onsen was clean and great. We were on the fourth floor and the views were unreal. Will for sure be returning in the winter! "
