"Wonderful ryokan-style hotel. Stayed for 2 nights with half-board, and the meals (dinner and breakfast) were excellent. The staff were attentive and engaging, taking the time to introduce the dinner menu to us. Chose this place for my children's first ski experience. Just a 30-minute drive to Shiga Kogen where all the ski resorts are. The hotel offers both indoor and outdoor onsens. Simply superb for a hot,

soak after a day on the ski slopes. Highly recommended! "

"The hotel is hidden up in the hills of Yubanka and is a welcome surprise from the tourist epicenter of Nagano. The hotel has an amazing breakfast and couples can use the onsen on the roof for a price. The monkey bus leaves daily for exploration of the local hills. Great price and quiet. Staff was polite and friendly. Great experience and loud visitors need not apply. "

"For my overnight trip to Nagano, my focus had always been to visit Togakushi Shrine for the giant cedar trees and Jigokudani Yaen Koen for the snow monkeys. "Definitely the best decision to change our booking (for 03 families) to Suminoyu Ryokan as the overall stay was a superb one right from the start.
