"The owners (different than the host) are the best! They made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay comfortable and stress-free as our house in Ka’u was damaged by Hurricane Lala. The Nene Room was beautiful, clean and peaceful with its large picture window overlooking the serene forest. We also stayed in Gecko room that has one bedroom, living room, and kitchen. "Beautifully maintained property. Large rooms and perfectly prepared. Don't miss the hot tub. A nice soak out in nature with all the soothing sounds. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful! Going beyond the necessary. I stayed through a passing hurricane and they made certain i was well prepared for any potential problems and even prepared a meal in advance just in case, no charge. I highly recommend the lodge and thankfull to all the folks there!"

"If you're looking for a truly quiet and secluded getaway, look no further. You will feel like you're the only house on the planet. At first I was weary of the weather, but I found that the rain makes this place even more cozy and charming! Listening to the pitter patter on the roof with the windows open helped me sleep like a baby. Not to mention enjoying the gorgeous cooler temps in what I call the second living room which is outside! The hot tub was suuuuch a vibe with the string lights at night. We got to speak with Scott, the housekeeper, a little bit and he was such a nice guy! Little surprises came with our stay too: a free book (which is actually a reaaaally good fiction about Big Island!), 12 farm fresh eggs, croissants, brand new milk in the fridge, little Hawaiian sodas... They went all out to make us feel like we were at home! I miss this place already."

"This hotel is more like a rental house than typical hotel. There are only eight or so rooms and each one has nice views with privacy. There is no staff on site but you can contact them is needed. I would stay here again. One thing to consider, you are 30 minutes from most services. If you don’t mind that and want something quiet this is a great option."

"Cute mom-and-pop property in a great location near Volcanoes National Park. It felt more like staying in a little house in the rainforest than a hotel. A little rustic, but in a good way. Hearing the birds and other animals at night made it really special. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!"

"What a beautiful spot! The rooms are clean, the gardens are beautiful, and they serve a fresh delicious breakfast to your room every day. We enjoyed the Rainforest Walk on the grounds and seeing wild critters and plants. It’s also a 5-minute drive to the entrance of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, which was perfect. I loved this place and next time I’m booking more nights!"

"Lovely spot to enjoy Volcano National Park. The small town is quite limited, so maybe not ideal for a long stay. The Bamboo Guest house was well suited for our family of four. Our two children slept on the “floor futons” and were very comfortable. The house is not air conditioned, which means the windows must be open when it is warm out, allowing some bugs and moisture in. But, the rain forest vibes are pretty nice. Really enjoyed the Japanese soaking tub. WiFi is very spotty. Host was lovely and the breakfast fruit and breads were nice additions."
