"After a long day and tense drive up the mountain in the dark and rain, the woman who greeted us at the front desk couldn’t have been more welcoming and kind. It’s an old lodge that has been honored and well cared for. There were actual metal room keys with an old key tag, antique furniture, low warm lights and a fire in the big stone fireplace in the sitting room, it honestly couldn’t have been a better experience on arrival. The room was cozy and comfortable, we cracked the window and could hear the rain and fountain in the front of the lodge. We loved it so much we stayed a second night and explored the area the next day. The town of Cloudcroft is small and charming, we hiked to the train trestle near by and the drive through the Mescalero reservation to visit Ruidoso was beautiful. We can’t recommend this magical place enough."

"Really well done modern rooms for a budget inn. Nice shower (no bath in ny room), even nice toilet. My main complaint is the ridiculously bright LED lighting in the room. I even bring my own bulbs but these were LED so couldn't change any out. A towel over the light helps.. Also, there is nowhere to sit outside at all. Hard to say how quiet it was but the very loud AC covered everything up."
