"The place was wonderful, my wife thought I was nuts that we were staying at a Bass Pro Shop. She ended up very excited that she could shop and stay at the same place. would recommend highly"
"The location is in walking distance to Beale Street and many other places. The rooms were well kept, the staff was amazing, and the rooftop bar was the icing on the cake!"
"The HU Hotel is a beautiful property, and I wanted to love it. But I have to be honest for any traveler, especially one with a child, considering a stay here.
We arrived late at night to no clear drop-off area, a chaotic arrival, and a large crowd outside who appeared intoxicated. After getting my son (10 years old) inside, I went to park across the street. Walking back, a drive-by shooting happened directly next to me. I ran in to find 5 random men at the entrance calling me "lil mama" and questioning me about which car it was.
We had planned to stay a second night. We did not.
The next morning when I checked out and explained why, the staff member's response was "that could happen anywhere." And tried to convince me to stay. AND I was still charged for both nights while having to pay for a hotel elsewhere.
I reached out to Expedia, and they resolved my refund quickly.
The property was nice, but the safety environment and the dismissive response to a serious incident were not great. If you're traveling with children or arriving late, please factor this in."
"There were multiple issues with this property... From the moment we arrived, there were 5 police officers and animal control blocking the drop off zone due to "someone having a cat that they weren't supposed to, so they had it removed" though they also looked through the windows of a car in the lot...
As for the property itself:
1. There are 3 elevators, but only 1 works and it takes at least 5 minutes for it to arrive when you push the button... When it did, the hand rails inside were busted and there was a patch on the wall.
2. There was a used contact lense on the floor of our room, dirt and wrapper from trash that wasn't ours. We do not wear contacts and hadn't opened food.
3. The bathroom floor did not appear to be mopped
4. Hand Towels had stains on them
5. AC did not cool the room. We turned it to 60 degrees at 3pm and returned at about 1030pm and still had no change. Our infant was sweating even when I undressed and couldn't sleep for hours. We ended up having to get portable fans from our car to be able to sleep .
6. There are no amenities other than the pool (which we did not use so I can't speak to it)
7. Safety is a 0- it's in a sketchy area, and even though security is in the parking lot at all times, the fact that they just text a QR code as the key, and the doors have no deadbolts or chains is a problem. They only have the flip out metal lock.
Not returning. Do not recommend. "
"I liked the breakfast the most. My first night I found a roach in the room. Terrible maid service. During my three days no maid service. I had no clean towels nor did my trash get emptied during my stay.
Another issue I had was one staff person failed to change the printer cartridge after I had asked for assistance. Below average rating accept for breakfast, parking and security."
"Our room was beautiful but we did notice that the area/floors in the Lobby, bar etc were dirty. A lot of cups and food plates were left behind on the area tables in the bar area near the entertainment area!
The entertainment was awesome!!! "
