Keswick Country House Hotel

Ennerdale Country House Hotel
8/10 Good
"Had a 2 nigh stay here. The staff were really lovely and helpful in any way you wanted. The hotel is run down really, it looks awful from the outside, the smoking bins were not emptied although the gardens were nice the hotel did not match it. The widows were looking rotten with all the paint coming off. The bed was really uncomfortable, very noisy when lying down. The rooms could to with TLC. The meals were really nice evening dinner and breakfast no problem there. I felt really sorry for the staff on the front desk, they had to do everything from checking in, serving breakfast, serving evening meal and also work the bar. Even after all this they were really lovely. This could be a really lovely place if it was done to a good standard. Even coaching breaks would be a good idea for them to get people in rooms and try to help. Overall - we had a nice break but as it is we would not be going back maybe until it has had a good overhaul. I suppose if you were backpacking round the area this would be ok for a 1 night stop gap but really nothing else."

The Grange Country House
10/10 Excellent
"A character-full period property in an impressive setting, with parking space provided. Everything was clean and tidy. The breakfast room has some great views of the surrounding landscape. The breakfast itself was delicious and plentiful. There is also a lounge room downstairs which has a shared fridge and a free espresso maker in for use throughout the day. Our bedroom was a decent size, comfortable and ckean. The bed and bathroom, shower etc. all good. What really stood out for us though, were the staff. All very friendly and helpful and helped make our stay very pleasant. A note for EV users- There is an EV charger (slow - 7kw) available on site for 60p per kWh, which we made use of to top up. Although if you visit the nearby Underscar manor spa during your visit (you can get a free pass for the spa from the hotel) , they have slow pod point chargers there for around 30p per kwh. We made use of these too, but you have to install an app on your phone for these and preload the money for them."

Lake District Castle Inn hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"We had the most amazing stay at the Castle Inn to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. The spa facilities were spacious and clean and we felt so relaxed there. The staff were friendly and super helpful - I brought a small shop bought birthday cake with me and the chef turned it into a work of art which was amazing and much appreciated by my daughter. We booked a classic double but were given a lovely big room with views towards the hills, space for comfy chairs and a very nice bathroom with a bath! The breakfast was really well done and we were looked after so well in the restaurant. If I was being picky, I would say the dinner menu wasn't that extensive so we only ate there one evening... but what we did have was cooked beautifully and was tasty. All together though, it was a brilliant stay and I would love to come back again soon."
