Kauai Shores Hotel
6/10 Okay
"1 location great beach available, property average. Very kind but under staffed.
2 room clean, recently remodeled. Quiet but dark. Poor lighting.
3 very lovely old property. Nostalgic 1980’s feel.
4 lava lava restaurant bar .. dated. People were nice, bartenders very curt.
5 parking rating poor. Forced to valet park each day to get a parking space.
6 bicycle available free was really great
Overall would never stay there again or recommend to friends. "
"Super convenient and very good quality food and beverage services. The proximity and quality of the beach and pool facilities make this property spectacular. During our ten day stay it was never annoyingly crowded. Location is easy to get to from Lihue and adjacent to Kōloa where more food options and shopping abound.
We choose Kauai over other islands because it projects more of a laid back, old Hawaii vibe. This property oozes all of that. We will be back!!"
"It was a good place for a one night stay before heading to the airport the next day. It's an older property that shows it's age, but they've made the most of it. We stayed in one of the cottages which had small bathrooms, especially the one en suite bathroom, which had it's sink out in the hallway. We did not cook in the kitchen. There are some restaurants and a gas station close by, and the airport is very close as well."
"Cute, qaint historical cottages dot the landscape of this beautiful well maintain property. Love the fact that there was a restaurant & bar on the property and the bonus is the food was wonderful! Loved the #86 cottage. Out favorite place was drinking coffee on the lanai, look out on the beautiful lush lawn and listen to the ocean hit the shore. It was paradise for us."
"Our stay was overall pleasant, but fell slightly short of expectations. We had booked an “ocean view” room anticipating a direct view of the ocean, however our room overlooked the pool and hot tub area instead. It was only upon arrival that we learned that “front ocean view” rooms are the ones that truly guarantee an ocean-facing perspective, which felt somewhat misleading at the time of booking.
The bed was comfortable enough, though not particularly memorable, and while we didn’t have the opportunity to try the on-site dining, the beach itself was nice, though fairly standard.
All in all, a decent stay, but I would recommend paying close attention to room categories to avoid any disappointment."
