The first employee did not allow us to have late checkout even fir a shower. "Location is amazing, staff are super friendly and helpful. Building is a bit dated and worn in the rooms and hallways, carpet beat up, wallpaper that has seen better days. Lobby looks amazing. There is a renovated floor that is very nice we’ve stayed on before. The drawback is that this is a “pet friendly” hotel, which they failed to mention when booking a room. We ended up on the 5th floor with a howling dog next door and barking in the hallways. I thought maybe we were at a dog kennel. The manager was accommodating and moved us to a different floor. Victoria has lots of dog lovers and most dogs are great. But, my preference is to not hear other people’s dogs barking and howling when I’m going to sleep. The manager said they only had 6 dogs in rooms on the 5th floor but I think more people were bringing in dogs, knowing that few questions would be asked going up the elevator."
