➡️A couple of weeks I wrote a caption explaining the Northern Lights from a scientific view👨‍🔬, now it is time for the legends surrounding this amazing spectacle:

📜According to one legend, Odin, the chief god and ruler of Asgard, lived in Valhalla, where he was preparing for Ragnarök. This event was predestined and would be Odin’s greatest battle⚔️, so he needed the bravest warriors at his side. During every battle on Earth, Odin would pick the warriors who would die and join him in Valhalla. The Valkiries👸 were female warriors on horseback. who wore armour and carried spears and shields🛡️, were tasked with leading Odin’s chosen warriors to Valhalla. The Vikings believed the Northern Lights🌌 illuminating the sky were the reflections of the Valkyrie’s armour🛡️ as they led the warrior to Odin.

📜In several other legends, they claim the Northern Lights🌌 were the breath of brave soldier who died in combat or they were believed to be the Bifrost Bridge🌈, a glowing, pulsing arch which led fallen warriors to the their final resting place in Valhalla.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦But for the Sámi people, the Northern Lights🌌 didn’t tell stories of heroism and bravery, they believed that they were the souls of the dead💀, and they were to be feared and respected in equal measure, so you shouldn’t talk🗣️ about them or even waving👋, whistling😗 or singing🎶 under them, as this would alert the lights to your presence and carry you up to the sky⬆️. Nowadays, many Sámi people stay in their homes🏠 when the Northern Lights are illuminating the sky🌌.

"Nice size room with comfortable bed. The breakfast and dinner were both always good and the staff was extremely helpful when making sure I had gluten free options. Great location!"

"Booked a standard room. Room size is ok but the shower in the bathroom is quite small. Sound proof is not that great. We could hear those walking outside the corridor or even heard the next door returned to the room and switched on the light! There was supposed cleaning provided but they only emptied the trash bins. There are only handwash, shampoo/body wash and conditioner which are average in quality. You would need to bring other necessities with you. The plus sides are the breakfast which has good range of selections and location is convenient. Airport express and bus stop are right outside the hotel. Therefore, easy traveling around the city or between airport and hotel."

"The stay does not include breakfast, but there are snacks available for purchase, and there’s a McDonald’s just down the street. The location is excellent, close to everything and surrounded by local restaurants, polar museum, sauna & cold plunge, magic ice bar, all within walking distance. Staff are friendly. Definitely recommend!"

"Lovely hotel , perfect location in the harbour area for all the trips available . We had a great room with fantastic views of the fjord and surrounding mountains. The highlight was definitely the breakfasts , with so much choice , my recommendation is definitely go earlier , as the later you are the busier it is , especially with only one cappuccino machine . The staff were also a credit , being very welcoming and friendly . Would highly recommend staying here if you visit Tromso ."
