Town of New Haven hotel rooms a the Independent

"We stayed here on my way down to Myrtle Beach with my dog. The room was great even though we were the first room of the lobby. Our room was on the parking lot side and not the road side. There were a lot of vehicles going through the parking lot that were pretty noisy but it did quiet down enough when we went to bed to sleep. The room, hotel, staff and everything was more than fine. This hotel allows dogs but there were no good spots to walk the dog. We ended up walking through the strip mall to the far end and walking around the theatre and along the inside of the fenceline along the road back to the hotel which I didn't enjoy. The hotel probably can't do anything about this but for walking the dog, it was not great so we elected for trying a different spot on our drive home from MB. Without the dog, I would definitely stay there again."

"The hotel and room were fine for a quick overnight stay as we were passing through. The area around the hotel is a little sketchy as we stopped at a gas station a minute away from the hotel and the attendant was obviously high and there were people loitering around that were under the influence of something. Would not stay in the area again."

"AC unit is pretty loud but cools. Mattresses are pretty worn and lumpy. Otherwise, a decent experience. "

"The breakfast was very good... closed at 9 which is early. The room had a big stain on the floor. Could use a good cleaning. Dirt dust attached to popcorn ceiling... needs a good cleaning. Bathroom was clean"

"The check in guy was not very friendly or helpful. The morning lady was friendly however. The bathroom door didn’t open and took two people. The room/ halls were run down. We saw a cockroach. We should have read reviews just looking quickly for a place to crash."

"Honestly, I couldn't do better for the price. The room was clean, and that was all I needed. I think the pool was out of service while I was there but that didn’t affect my experience at all. The girl at the front desk was very helpful in recommending places to eat."
