What a great place to relax. After the bustle of Vienna, this cozy inn nestled in a quite neighborhood was just what we needed to unwind. It's quirky in a great way. The staff was super friendly, the breakfast was awesome and the room was roomy.

We had a wonderful stay at The Houses of History. It was a unique experience, for our family as the property has a lot of character. The pool was perfect for cooling off during the hot weather and our kids really enjoyed it. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection. The staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and ready to help. Overall, a memorable stay, and we would happily recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different.

We arrived a bit early but the lovely receptionist asked for our room to be cleaned as a priority and provided coffee and delicious biscuits while we waited. The room was the one with the balcony and was wonderful. Very spacious and quiet despite some children being in the large room down in the garden nearby but we only heard them when outside. The breakfasts were very good. They do get busy early on as Hungarians and Germans seem to eat early and some even beat us down and we are usually always up first. When our room's coffee machine didn't seem to work (one of the two at breakfast broke too, not due to me!) the lovely receptionist gave me a coffee from there plus cake that day! The parking was near to our room and very handy albeit at £9.50 a day but parking is a nightmare in the lovely town as there are fines threatened everywhere so pay £9.50 instead. We didn't use the pool as it seemed unheated but there were many folk using it when we got back each day. The wifi worked fine to check emails and listen to Radio Caroline on the internet.

The buildings are excellent, very historical, and sensitively restored, which is rare in Hungary. The central heating failed to trigger in the evening, do it was very chilly at night, but better by morning - which was when we discovered that the inclusive coffee & tea had no cups in the room..... Small slip ups didn't detract from an lovely stay

Great location near the lake and other sights; hiking possibilities nearby; quiet (except chickens); some sustainable practices to avoid waste (esp. coffee capsules) and plastic (water bottles and body care products) would be nice; bus stops nearby (easily reachable by train and bus from Budapest)

Cozy Authentic Hungarian Hotel

Very quaint place to stay in Lake Balaton. Easy walk to some restaurants in the downtown area. Not many amenities like a traditional hotel with 24 hour guest services but still a good spot. We did see a few spiders in the room but everything else was very clean feeling.

Amazing historic hotel, with amazing, friendly service. Renovated, spacious, clean rooms. Very little windows. Good airconditioning. Beautiful surroundings with a lot of green and flowers. The breakfast was fantastic. A great thanks to the staff, especially Loretta, who welcomed us like friends and made us feel at home. Best hotel we ever had. A little negativ point was the green water in the pool. We would like to come back one day

Beautiful place, just as the pictures show. The staff was very sweet and friendly. Breakfast was great. Our room was nice with a very comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. As to be expected with a very old place the wood floors were a bit noisy, but that just added to the charme if this place. Would happily stay here again.
