The Westin Desert Willow Villas, Palm Desert

"The room was clean, but the halls and entryways were not. I saw some dead bugs in front of my door throughout my stay, and even though housekeeping passed by several times, none of them swept the hall. There were bags of trash outside the doors that were not picked up, and the balconies on the ground floor were not clean at all. Inside, no complaints, but outside could be better. The liners stored for the sofa bed were not clean and it does not seem they had been washed in a while. It seems to me they just store them again without a proper wash. The water temperature is good enough when it's sunny; if not, it will probably be cold, so a word of advice for parents with kids. Mostly, it should be fine. The pool areas are nice, the water is clean, and the service is great if you are in the main pool. However, if you are at the secondary pool, nothing is open even during scheduled hours, so good luck getting any food or drinks. The staff is attentive and helpful, no issues there. The people are nice and great, but if you call the front desk, their AI does not understand what you are saying and is somewhat incompetent. I would rather speak with a human. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. It's a nice area and big enough for walks."

"The lobby and pool area were nice, but the hallway and room need an update. The walls have a lot of paint defects and the flooring down the hall is laminate which made it loud when people walked down the hall. The door to the back parking lot was unlocked at all times and anyone could just walk in without a keycard needed. That seems unsafe to me. My room smelled like moth balls when I walked in and there was a used facial makeup pad on the floor in the corner. There was a hairball in the shower and the sheets on one of the beds were wrinkled and looked like someone had slept in them and it didn’t get changed. The other bed in the room looked like it had clean sheets on it so I slept in that one. The furniture in the room is pretty old and the chair cushions were dingy looking. I checked in kind of late at night and when I went to take a shower, there were no bath towels in the bathroom only hand towels. I had to go get them from the front desk. There are also no towels in the pool area, and you have to get them and return them at the front desk as well. I was in town for a conference and really just needed a place to sleep at night. I only went to the pool for a short time 1 day but enjoyed the pool area. The smell in my room was the biggest downside for me. The front desk staff were nice though. As long as the other rooms don’t smell like the one I had, I guess I would stay here again for the price."

"This place had many qualities that I really appreciated the friendliness of the staff, you feel so welcomed when check in, customer service is amazing. The cleanliness of this place is impeccable The pools are amazing and that mountain view takes your breath away. This resort has the tranquility I always wanted so much to do and explore. This resort is beautiful. Had such a good time with my family. Will definitely be returning..."

"We stayed for four nights - the location of the hotel and size of the room were excellent. We had a few issues with our room (blocked sink, shower head broken, and in room phone not working), however when I raised these with reception with the exception of the phone they were responded to quickly. The quality of the in-room house keeping wasn't as good over the weekend period, but good during the week. Overall it was good value for money and I would stay again."

"The staff did not have our room ready because we arrived early. They upgraded us to a 2 bedroom with 2 baths instead of 1 in a quiet location with a view. The kitchen was great for breakfasts. The pool bar had both good food and good drinks. Highly recommend"
