"The staff and amenities were good, but we have given this property a five star rating for its location, setting and vibe. It is further down the coast from the big gated resorts and is close to the white river. If you’re independently minded and like doing your own thing - perhaps with a rental car as we had, or even if you don’t- then this offers more freedom than a mega resort . One other thing we liked was that it is popular with Jamaican visitors, not just tourists . It enabled a lot more cultural exposure. The breakfast is excellent, with eggs cooked to order, or a Jamaican breakfast . A small quiet beach and colourful murals as decor make it feel quite personable. There is a bar and an ocean deck. There is also free parking. The accommodation is actually a beach hotel and not a resort like others in Ocho Rios- with multiple pools and the like. It is also a slightly older property with a rustic charm. If you want a flashy and new resort, where you’ll only meet tourists and staff, this is not the place for you. If you want an authentic, decent quality beach hotel vibe and a great base for exploring then we strongly recommend the Sand and Tan"

"Celebrated my best friend’s 60th birthday at Bahia! We all had a blast! The food was great, hospitality was amazing, and we met really fun guests too! Would absolutely visit again!!!"

"The food was good and I enjoyed the beach. However, I was disappointed in the condition of the room. There was visible mold around the AC vent and it felt like there was moisture in the air. In addition, the toilet stopped working on the day we were checked. The front desk was aware of the mold a day before my vacation ended and didn’t offer to change the room but instead wanted to send maintenance to the room! "

"Great setting and view. Rooms and facility old but relatively clean. Breakfast was great but dinner was pretty bad. Would definitely return but not eat dinner on site. "

"The rooms are clean. Staff is excellent and responsive. Storage space is sparse and draws are small. Colonial style rooms are quaint but dated. Landscaping is beautiful and well maintained. Beach view is exceptional. Pricing for stay and dining is pricey. Overall the property is wonderful and inviting."

"No effort is put into the food. It is awful and half cooked. I tried the buffet, seafood and steak restaurant and room service. Our room was not properly tidied. We had to call back housekeeping."

"The location was very good and secured also the gift shops, restaurants including Marguritaville, Starbucks and others are just across the street. White sand beach just behind the property. The reception was very friendly and accommodating. The grounds were manicured but the pool was dirty and unusable. Repairs to the compound and roof were still being repaired from hurricane Melissa damage which is understandable. The room itself was extremely dated... 1950 or 60's. The sofa was old saggy and soiled.. Tge reception was very kind and gave me a clean sheet to throw over it. I slept on top of the bed because under the cover sheets apperanced stained. Everything could be easily fixed by the owner of the unit. For the one night it was doable. The units are all privately owned and maintained so perhaps a different unit may be more updated."
