Things to do in Sorrento Coast

Piazza Tasso is the main square of the Southern Italy resort town of Sorrento and is the beating heart of life in the city. The building’s modest exterior conceals a grand interior festooned with magnificent archways, altars, chapels and paintings. A cathedral has existed in the city since around the 11th century. Note that today’s Sorrento Cathedral, a restoration of a 15th-century Romanesque building, was heavily damaged during an invasion by the Turks in 1558.

Tucked away behind the bedlam of Piazza Tasso, the Chiesa di San Francesco is easily one of the most beautiful churches in Sorrento and is a wonderfully calm and serene space in which to take time out from a busy itinerary.
