The capital of Florida combines the spirit of a college town with the culture of a true metropolis. Browse museums and galleries and join locals at a football game.

Tallahassee may be the capital city of Florida, but at heart it is a college town. It is home to both Florida State University and Florida A&M University and several other college branches. During football games, Tallahassee becomes a sea of garnet and gold, and roars from Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium can be heard throughout the city.

Immerse yourself in local culture at one of the city’s many museums. The Florida Historic Capitol Museum is the original capitol building of Tallahassee. Although the state government has moved to a newer building, the original Capitol Museum has been meticulously restored to preserve it for generations to come. Tour the exhibits and learn about Florida’s political and governmental history.

Admire classic cars and vehicles from television series, including Batman, at the Tallahassee Automobile and Collectibles Museum. The museum also has a diverse range of other exhibits, from rare Steinway pianos, to a doll collection, to Native American artifacts.

The Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural Science is an oasis tucked away in the center of the city. The Natural Habitat section is home to several native species, such as panthers and red wolves. Take an exhilarating ride through treetops and over swamps on the ropes course in the Tallahassee Tree to Tree Adventures section.

Pick up souvenirs and mementos of your visit to Tallahassee at Railroad Square Art Park, a group of studios and galleries.

Fly into Tallahassee Regional Airport, a 15-minute drive from downtown. Or, drive into town via one of the major highways that connect Tallahassee with other major cities, such as Georgia, located 14 miles (22.5 kilometers) north.

Tallahassee enjoys a cooler climate than the rest of Florida. Winters can dip down to freezing point, while fall and spring are fairly mild. Its beautiful weather and collegiate atmosphere make Tallahassee a fun place to visit any time of year.
