Tyr Graig Castle

10/10 Excellent
"What a find - very quirky property with an old world feel. Fabulous views, lovely friendly hosts. A well presented and tasty cooked breakfast along with plentiful selection of help yoursel, toast yougurts, cereal and fruit was served in the pretty conservatory with amazing sea views over Barmouth bay. Our room whilst quite small had everything we needed and a patio door out onto the balcony which again had fantastic views. The entrance to the property with its large studded door is very impressive leading into a victorian hall with stained glass windows, tiled floor and a magnificent wooden stairway. Just a couple of things to note, wallpaper in bedroom had a couple of loose areas, Main door to first floor very squeeky and we could hear it from our room. However this did not mar our stay. A littls PS a couple of chairs and a table on the beautiful balcony would have been the icing on the cake."

"Great location right on the sea front. Lovely rooms and very comfy bed. The bedrooms and on suites appear to have all been recently renovated. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. The only slight drawback is the parking - there isn't any. So, we had to risk parking on a random street away from the hotel. Also, the air vent for the kitchen extraction is like an aircraft engine blasting away right at the front of the building where the outdoor seating is."

"The infrastructure needs a reasonable amount of TLC but it’s a lovely place, with great staff, good beer, fabulous folk music on a Friday evening and a decent size car park. We e stayed many times before when visiting the Centre for Alternative Technology and will stay at the Wynnstay again soon"

The Cross Foxes- Bar Grill and Rooms

10/10 Excellent
"Hotel staff were lovely very welcoming and very helpful...a lady made sure she brought us fresh milk for the room and was really nice...thank you to her. Room was large with huge bathroom and big bath and excellent shower and spotlessly clean.. Beds were comfy as were pillows. 2 beds in the one room..a bed and a bed settee perfect for a family of 4...strangely only 2 cups for drinks. Hotel 10 mins from Corris craft centre which we were visiting. Had a lovely evening meal at the hotel..bit limited menu for kids but ok. Breakfast was included and this was the only area that let the hotel down...started at 8.30 and we were there at 8.35 ..only 2 people already there..to be told that they had only 1 sausage left....kind of a basic to have enough sausages for a full English brekkie..I get it maybe if we were last to go down and it had been busy but obvs they just hadnt got any in ready for brekkie...our grandson had it and obvs the staff were then having to tell every other guest as they ordered...heard a few people commenting how disappointing it was....very odd and have never come across this before. Overall apart from the breakfast experience the hotel was lovely."

"Lovely sea front hotel in good location. Room was comfortable, nice restaurants in walking distance and lovely spa, just a shame we didn’t get to try any treatments (no information provided) or the steam room (they took too long to switch it on…)."
