"Old-school, classic hotel full of heritage and history, a hidden gem in the hot area of Surabaya. It has friendly staff, good maintenance and very good breakfast. The things one may complain are also associated with the age of this hotel, for example, the rooms mostly have the only window at the entrance side due to the old buiding design, and the kids may find it slightly boring due to the lack of fun facilities usually found in modern hotels, but who can pass the opportunity to live where legends like Charlie Chaplin once stayed?"

"The room was clean, modern and a good size. The room was quiet, which is not the case everywhere in the city. The hotel is adjacent a modern mall (you do have to exit the hotel but the mall entrance is very close) with many dining options and the hotel room service is good (although they did call 3 times within 5 minutes to re-confirm my order consisting of 2 items and then called 30 minutes later insisting I give feedback on the service and meal - this was rather annoying especially since I was trying to sleep before a midnight pickup for a tour). I asked about an airport drop-off and the hotel car services are outrageously expensive but there are cabs on standby at the entrance 24/7."

"I stayed one night at this hotel to rest after a long journey from Melbourne to Denpasar, and then on to Surabaya. The staff were friendly and the food was average. However, I was disappointed to find that my room and bathroom were quite dusty. I hope the management can take this feedback into consideration and improve the cleanliness of the rooms. With better attention to this area, I would consider staying again in the future."

"Vasa Hotel is very clean and has a sophisticated, upscale atmosphere. The decorations were always on point and added to the overall elegant feel of the hotel. As for the food, I only tried the breakfast buffet, but everything I had was delicious with a good variety of options. I didn’t use the spa or the gym, though I did see the gym facilities and they looked very well equipped. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The only small challenge was a bit of a language barrier at times, as some staff members had limited English. Overall, I had a great stay and really don’t have any complaints."
