Lindner Hotel Hamburg Am Michel, part of JdV by Hyatt
10/10 Excellent
"Very good property. The rooms are great. The location is exceptional. Maybe the only complaint is that breakfast was very crowded at 9:00 AM. That said, this would be my go to hotel in Hamburg every time."
"We like this hotel and we will stay there again but a couple of things could use tweaking. First and foremost, the perfume of cigarettes in the lobby is a negative. Secondly, the staff are very nice but not very well trained to deal with issues. They never could get our smart TV working to function with media channels and they never even got back to us to say why they couldn’t get it going. It would be nice to have a concierge who knew exactly what he was talking about on various subjects. Otherwise the hotel is elegant and well positioned between the harbour and the downtown area."
"The hotel was good in most respects, it was clean, the staff were helpful, the bed was comfy the breakfasts were good and it had a nice bar that served food until late (I think 23:00).
However, the shower wasn't well maintained. The holder would not hold its position and slid down (it must have been this way for a while). There was some issue with the shower temperature control, causing fluctuations in temperature.
The area was also very noisy as there are many people with fast cars that seem to congregate there and whom like to show off just how quickly they can achieve the impressive speed of 30kph (the streets are small and with competing traffic)."
"Great Location,Very Clean Amazing Rooms, staff was very Helpful from when I arrived with being in a van which didn’t fit in the underground parking. They Quickly sorted a spot in front of the Hotel.Check In was very Good no waiting and very friendly.Would definitely stay again."
"Located central in a modern building with a fitness center and sauna I would book again.
Two subway lines are close with one nearly at its door, yet it’s not a crowded and nosy area. I was able to take the S1 with an easy lift transfer to the U3. Then walked a few street to the hotel.
I was provided a corner room with wall to wall windows; beautiful. There are blackout curtains, should you not want to wake with the sunrise.
There is a desk with a cable to hook up your electronics should you be in Hamburg for work.
I did not request breakfast as the additional cost was pricey €29.
The staff are very friendly and helpful."
"We stayed at the Dorint because it was close to where our friend lives. It is a nice hotel but pricey. We had lunch there and paid 8 Euros for a bottle of water, which we didn't think was even a liter bottle. The room was nice, AC, Some English channels, clean and comfortable.
We had not taken breakfast because they charge about 30 Euros per person for the typical German breakfast. However, we took it for one day because our friend wanted to meet at the hotel and they happened to have a special of 15 Euros per person. We included our friend in the breakfast but the hotel charged us the full price even though we told them she was our guest. What was even more upsetting, is she arrived late and breakfast was closing so all she could get is some cucumbers and tomatoes! She ended up paying for a coffee at the bar! We were not happy to have to pay 30 Euros for a small plate of cucumbers and tomatoes. I realize she was late, but nevertheless, their breakfast is ridiculous at that price especially for what you get."
